November 18, 1905 - December 25, 1951
- First martyr of the Civil Rights Movement. He and his wife were assassinated by the KKK on Christmas Eve 1951.
- Worked to increase teachers' pay for African - American in Florida
- Fought for legal representation for the Groveland Boys who were falsely accused of a crime.
- President of NAACP Brevard County.
